Topic
As a sign language interpreter you are increasingly requested to work into and from English as non-native speakers. During the two day training you will learn linguistic and coping strategies in order to match these demands. The training is a combination of theory and practice and covers:

  • Third language interpreting & international settings

  • Linguistic strategies in formal and informal settings

  • Coping strategies and tools

  • Reflective practices

  • Team interpreting

During the practice sessions you will work from spoken English to your national sign language and vice versa. You are kindly requested to bring video materials in your national sign language. You will receive more information on what to bring once you have registered.

Participant’s profile
You have extensive experience as a sign language interpreter in your national sign & spoken language. You can work with English (minimum of B2 level according to the CEFR framework) as an active and passive working language.

Language
The language of the training is English.

Certificate
Upon completion and full attendance of the training participants will receive a certificate of attendance. The course is registered with the Dutch Registry for Sign Language Interpreters (RTGS) and upon completion of the training Dutch Sign Language interpreters receive 12 credits (number 34445).

Registration
Members of ANAPI-LG will receive a 25 euro discount on their registration fee (if registered by the early bird deadline).
Early bird (by 30 April): 275 euros
Regular (1-31 May): 350 euros
Late (1-30 June): 425 euros

Coffee breaks and snacks are included. Participants will need to organize their own lunch, travel and accommodation.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis. A total of 16 places are available.
Note: VAT is not applicable and will not be charged.

Cancellation policy
before 1 May: 50% of the registration fee will be refunded (excluding bank transfer costs)
