Description:

Interpreting at multilingual and high-level conferences requires specific knowledge and skills. Signed language interpreters are increasingly asked to interpret high-level events held by international institutions, national parliaments and multinational businesses. To deliver a quality interpretation in these demanding settings a comprehensive set of specific strategies and skills is required.
This training provides you the opportunity to learn some of these conference interpreting skills. Together with colleagues we will discuss theories and put it into practice, such as:

  • Putting together the best team combinations

  • Preparation tools

  • Building terminology lists

  • Examining conference procedures and jargon

  • Supporting your colleague and receiving support

  • Positioning of interpreters

  • Effective note taking

  • Technical and logistical preparations

  • Negotiating techniques
