The ICTIC 5 conference will take place from 2-4 June in Kristiansand, Norway.
The theme for the fifth iteration of the ICTIC conference is Translation and Cognition on the ground. What is now recognized as legitimate empirical phenomena within the field of Translation and Interpreting Studies is a much broader and more inclusive category than was the case just a couple of decades ago. The remit of the field is expanding to encompass multiple new forms of mediated communication in a range of new scenarios.
Part II of the training ‘Interpreting from and to English as a 3rd language’ organized by Maya de Wit Sign Language Interpreting Consultancy.
You will have the opportunity to learn with peers from across Europe through in depth practice sessions, games, and discussions. Through intensive practice and the individual and peer feedback, you will enhance your acquired skills to work between English and your national sign language.

As a sign language interpreter you are increasingly requested to work into and from English as non-native speakers. During the two day training you will learn linguistic and coping strategies in order to match these demands.
MITS is hosting their second online seminar on 22 March from 10.00 - 14.00 CET. The seminar will tackle a pressing and fundamental topic: the rights and risks of signed language translation and Interpretation in the context of the EU legal framework.
A call for papers for the conference “ELF Communication Today: Acceptability and Accessibility in Focus” that will be held on 4 and 5 December 2024 at the University of Salerno, Italy.

This training is Part II of the training 'Interpreting from and to English as a 3rd Language' and based on the lessons learned in Part I. Register by 30 June to get the early bird registration fee!
The MITS Public Online Seminar, taking place on October 5th from 9:45 AM to 13:00 PM, will focus on deaf persons in conflict zones and humanitarian crises, with particular emphasis on the role of sign language interpreters in these contexts.

The event will take place on 12-14 September 2024 at Newcastle University and will also be accessible in 'light-hybrid' mode. It will bring together translation studies scholars and professional translators (freelance and in-house) with academics and professionals from other fields (e.g. nursing, psychology, legal & accounting, coaching) to explore and discuss the complex relationship between ethics and self-care in contemporary practice (see event abstract below).

“The integration of social-haptic communication in deafblind interpreting and educational settings”, which will be held on the 4th and 5th of September 2023 in person in Aula Magna Silvio Trentin, Ca’ Dolfin, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and on Zoom.
The conference aims at gathering international and national expertise around the integration of social-haptic communication in the practice of deafblind interpreting and in deafblind learning environments.
